The TED Prize is divided into three categories: 1. Prize for the most outstanding contribution of a study to the world of ancient history; 2. Prize for "great contribution of a study to the world of ancient history"; 3. Prize for the "greatest contribution to the world of ancient history."
In the first category, a study is awarded 1 to 3 percent of the total prize money for any contribution to the overall work. The next two categories have a prize from 1 percent to 3 percent of total prize money.
The first category is for the study of ancient history. In this category, the prize is awarded to the best contribution of a well-established, well-documented civilization. The next category is for scientific contributions to ancient history. In this category, the award is awarded to the best contribution of a very distant civilization.
