It's a huge deal for a sports fan to be involved in a race that has been around for as long as one can remember, and it's a lot of fun. I had some great time, but I'd also like to say that I'm also excited for NASCAR. I've been racing cars for years, but there's never been a time when I felt like the excitement of a race was an issue. We just had to put up with the fact that we weren't winning. I just don't think we had, for a while, the same level of excitement that we did. It's great.

It's also been a joy to watch NASCAR grow in terms of the number of people who are involved with it. We now have an extensive fan base—I've had the pleasure of seeing many of my friends who came on over the summer on an event that I never get to watch when driving a car. This year, it's even more important for us to bring in more people. It's like a new kind of NASCAR. We always have it in our DNA. I love to watch NASCAR. I've got a few cars in my garage and I'd love to drive them over and over again, but the big problem is always when we're talking about that thing that makes it so great. It's not about getting into the championship, it's about getting out there and making it. I'm looking forward to getting to work with my team mates. It's been a great experience.

NASCAR's biggest challenge this year is how it relates to cars. I know we could have done better this year, but the best we can do is to create an environment where there are only three, four cars competing to the finish. We're not going to do that in 2013. I think we're going to do better if we do that this year.

The most important thing we have to do is show everybody that we're not going to do that. There's not going to be four cars here, there's not going to be five. When we do compete, we're going to be able to get a car to the finish line before the other three cars get there. We're going to go to Daytona and come back for one of these next five. We have to do that.
