Kaspersky Lab, who were not named, confirmed that they had not received any additional information from the US government. "The Kaspersky Lab team has had no conversations with the US government regarding the data collected from the NSA," they added.

Kaspersky Lab released a statement on Thursday saying that it had taken "appropriate measures and took appropriate actions" in an effort to prevent "the potential theft of sensitive information." It did not specify which actions the company took.

A Kaspersky spokesman declined to respond to multiple requests for comment.

An NSA spokesperson declined to comment, saying, "I was given absolutely no information whatsoever to confirm the authenticity of any information that I provided to the FBI. We received no information from the US government at this time."

The Kaspersky team declined to comment on Martin's testimony, saying they were investigating "whether this information is classified for security purposes."

Kaspersky announced that Martin was cooperating with the US to help the FBI in its investigation into the Snowden leaks. The company said it had received information from the FBI about the malware in a series of tweets that began at 1:25 p.m. ET. The FBI sent a team to the US for a further investigation and Martin "has confirmed that he will not be held accountable for the data theft," the company, which was founded by a former employee of Martin's, said in the release. As of 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Martin had not responded to multiple requests for comment.
