Of course, Best Buy's system won't be working as expected
Of course, Best Buy's system won't be working as expected and is being forced to upgrade the system, so I guess I'll just wait for the official launch of the new device. I suspect the Pixel 3 will be released sometime this year.
Google has yet to respond directly to my request for more information, but the company's public relations department did comment on this story.
Update December 2: The Pixel 3 is finally here!
The Pixel 3 is a new device for Google. It's a much different device than the Pixel 2, but it's still a great addition to Android apps. The company released a new version of Chromecast yesterday for the Pixel 3 with support for all the latest Android device features. The new version of Chromecast features a 1-year free trial for those who sign up through the Google Play Store. The Pixel 3 will come with an NFC port so you can connect it to your TV for easy access, the same way you can connect your mobile phone to your TV. And since it's Android 4.4.2, the Pixel 3 comes with an option to upgrade the Google Play Store to Android 4.4.2. That's right. I can't wait to get my Pixel 3 on the Google Play Store!
Update July 12: Google has announced the official launch of the Pixel 3. As always, the company has shared the official launch of Chromecast at Google's event today. I've included the following video to help you see what the new Chromecast looks like. The video shows the new version and the updated features.
This is really interesting, because I've often wondered about the viability of the Chrome OS, since it's very much part of Google's strategy to make Android more appealing to its users. Chrome OS is still a huge tool for Google to use and be a popular operating system for Android, at least at the moment. I'm hoping Chrome OS will gain more traction by the time Google releases Chromecast, but the company is still very much working on the OS, so we're still left with a much more limited platform: Google's own app store.
Update July 8: I've been digging into Google's official Chromecast announcement for a bit. I've been unable to find a good explanation for why they're announcing the device. Well, it's no secret that Google's Chromecast is coming soon. The company has been talking about this device for about a month and now the news is finally in.
Google's Pixel 3 Pixel will feature Chrome OS
