Dong Energy's first offshore wind farm and power plant

In 2006, Dong Energy acquired the Danish National Natural Resources Development Authority, which is responsible for the development of offshore wind energy. The first wind farm in Denmark was purchased by Dong Energy in 2005, where the company also built a huge wind farm in 2012.

In September in partnership with the Danish government, Dong also acquired the Denmark National Wind Energy Administration, which coordinates Denmark's offshore wind industry. The agency operates offshore wind farms in the state of Vuksel in southern Denmark, the town where Dong's site is located.

Dong Power's second wind farm in Copenhagen is owned by the Danish National Wind Energy Administration.

In January, the Danish government agreed to buy Dong Energy's third wind farm in Copenhagen, which is owned by Dong's parent company, Dong Power. In June, Dong Power purchased Dong Energy's subsidiary, Dong Energy Energy Services, a Dutch subsidiary. The company is now known as DNE in Denmark.
