Google will hire more than 7,000 New York City law

Google will hire more than 7,000 New York City law enforcement officers and civil defense employees over the next five years.

This is the first Google employee-hire jobs for its New York office, and it's certainly not the last. Google's New York office (and its headquarters in San Francisco) will soon open its own office in Long Island City. So far, Google's New York office has added at least 11,000 law enforcement officers over the last five years, the company said.

But we won't know for sure about whether Google will hire New York cops or New York civil servants until next summer, when it will start hiring more New York City cops. The news of that announcement comes as a surprise to many in the tech industry, who would rather wait for the final year of a bad recession to get their fix for big new jobs.When I was a kid, my grandmother would watch TV and tell me stories about how a family of three could go to college. (I remember having to explain to my mother why I was only allowed to watch TV, and why my mother would say, "You've got to watch the show!", and I'm still not a big fan of that.)

When I was about 16, I started my own school of journalism called The American Press Guild.

It was run by a group of "journalists" who were concerned that the system "didn't work," and that journalists were "too afraid to report on things that may or may not be true."

Then there were The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and the Weekly Standard. (I never read them, but I remember it being a great start to a career in journalism.)
