"I would not want to be blamed for not doing

"I would not want to be blamed for not doing our job, but I know the investigation was going on. It was a slow and dirty process. It was so important, but I don't think we were going to give you an opportunity to take a look."

In his statement, Comey noted that the FBI had only uncovered "several" emails stolen from Clinton's server and had found no evidence that the servers had been compromised. Comey also called on the US government to "come clean with us, and we'll do everything we can to get it back to you." "There are some very important questions that still need to be answered, and we will do everything we can to provide them a fair and complete answer," Comey said. "As I've said repeatedly, there is no way in hell this would happen. It is highly unlikely that any of this information would have been compromised, and we expect to be able to provide it to you by the end of this month."

"We'll do everything we can to get it back to you" is the mantra from Comey. He said: "The FBI has not found any evidence of any compromise of Clinton's emails. Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!

In response to the Daily Caller article, Trump tweeted: "FBI Director Comey, should you be caught, will release the 'Catch Me If You Don't Want to be Heard' letter to President Clinton. I will be very, very, VERY upset!"

In response to that tweet, the Department of Justice issued a statement acknowledging that the FBI had found no evidence of any compromise of Clinton's emails. "The FBI has not found any evidence of any compromise of Clinton's servers."
