"It's just a matter of time before the investigation gets out of hand," said Cal Police Chief Mark Anderson. "Hopefully it won't be until that time that we're able to say there was no intentional act of violence."

There was no video or audio evidence of the crash, police said, and the investigation is continuing.

Tesla says it has zero tolerance for violence and said it will take disciplinary actions against anyone who tries to harm its customers.

Tesla spokesman Steve Sanger said they did not comment on disciplinary action or the investigation.
