The company says that as of today, the current update list for Windows 8 is now 7.7.1, but other versions will continue to be released.

"The Windows Store is one of the most important platforms for bringing you great apps for Windows 8," Microsoft said in a statement. "This continues to be a driving force behind the success of the Windows Store."

While Windows 8 is still in active development, Microsoft is also releasing a new update at a later date, which is expected to include updates for those running Windows RT and Windows Phone 8. For more information on how to install Windows RT, check out Windows Update for Windows 10.

Check out the Windows Store blog post for some more updates and to sign up for weekly updates.An Alabama man convicted of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend was sentenced to life in prison today after serving more than a year in prison for sexually assaulting her.

The sentencing was announced by the Alabamians for Criminal Justice Reform, a group of lawyers that is representing about 300 women nationwide who filed a lawsuit against the Alabama Department of Corrections over the death of their ex-girlfriend.

Sandra Hales, a 32-year-old waitress from South Carolina, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for first-degree murder by a jury last year, and to life in prison for second-degree murder by a jury last year. Hales was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for first-degree assault.

Hales had previously committed 30 other charges against her, including rape, first-degree assault and second-degree assault, the lawsuit said in a statement.

Hales' defense team also said he had been sexually assaulted by a former girlfriend.

"I felt this could happen to someone I love and never knew. It did," Hales told the media after the verdict. "I think that in this case, they got away with it, though."

Jurors deliberated for only about half an hour before deciding on Hales' sentence. The judge also sentenced Hales to 15 years in prison for sexual assault.

"I'm very disappointed. I believe I got away with it," Hales said. "If you don't believe, you're wrong. I'm not telling you to feel bad, but if you do, you deserve a second chance."
