It's unclear if the company will ever open a Whole Foods store in the first place. The retailer has been eyeing some of the most iconic brands in supermarkets and has been eyeing the likes of CVS and Walgreens as well as Target, which has a store in L.A., as well as several more retail locations in the U.S.

The recent report from The Seattle Times also suggests that Amazon will open a Whole Foods store near a location in Washington, D.C., this fall. The Times reports that Whole Foods is "the only supermarket chain that currently has an official headquarters in Seattle."

Amazon is also looking into ways to make its online grocery delivery a little less expensive: The company is also looking into expanding online delivery services that will replace conventional delivery by eliminating the need for traditional delivery methods. According to the Times, Amazon plans to start using Amazon Prime Instant Video in certain cities before Amazon sells its retail stores online, and it is "already planning to start using its Amazon Prime Instant Video service beginning this fall," although the Times notes that Amazon has not yet announced how that will work:

Amazon said its delivery service would begin as a way to help shoppers plan meals and other groceries as well as pay their own bills using Amazon.

Amazon has also been pursuing a program that would allow Amazon's top suppliers in the U.S. to provide a way to deliver packages on the cheap to consumers in low-cost markets like California, New York and California. The company is building an ecosystem in which large retailers can compete directly with Amazon's online offerings, which are cheaper, easier to purchase and provide the full range of services they require to make their products even better.

The Times also notes that Amazon is also looking into ways to make it easier for its suppliers to deliver packages to consumers more cheaply in a region where consumer prices have fallen dramatically in recent years. According to the Times, Amazon is looking into ways to reduce the number of packages it offers for free — even if it means eliminating the cost of delivering them.
